Part of a collection commissioned by Jonathan Woodward of the Clinton Pottery each year. The series features a famous painting with one of his iconic mugs. I was ready to deliver his 2020 commission when the pandemic ground everything to a halt. Yelling across the parking lot, Jonathan and I decided we had to do a pandemic themed painting instead and Hopper's Nighthawks was the perfect subject. The next several weeks were spent in solitude at the easel creating this piece.
